Upcycled. Vintage. One of a kind.
Design Ethos
It's time to slow down. Mass market fast fashion hurts the plant, the humans who make the pieces, and our own sense of who we are. I first started Workroom Marguerite in 2013 creating 100% upcycled pieces that broke the mass market mold and leaned into individualism and one-of-a-kind looks for customers who wanted something different. Today, I have expanded this original design ethos to include more inclusive garment sizing, near-zero waste construction, and eco-friendlier shipping practices.

Production
Four Hands. Workroom Marguerite is currently staffed by just one full-time experienced sewist who produces the majority of the pieces (it's me!) and one part-time master seamstress (its my mom!) who advises on construction, creates prototypes, and constructs pieces.
Each piece we make is crafted to last with thoughtful attention to the construction process and reinforced stitching at stress points. Be assured all Workroom Margueite pieces are made in-house using eco-friendly materials and near zero-waste construction techniques.

One more cool thing? Along with my Grandmother and daughter, we share the name Marguerite.

Sustainability
Slow and sustainable. I select the materials for my pieces with a focus on sustainability and long-lasting use. My “resource rescue” materials are remnants, bulk recycling, fabric scraps, vintage fabrics, deadstock, and upcycled fabrics that I can give new life. Upcycled pieces are often made of deconstructed thrifted garments that could have ended up in landfills or the ocean.
I also look for genuine sustainability in the new fabrics I use. For example the Bali batiks are sourced from an American family-owned company who built an eco-friendly plant in Bali that treats 100% of the water it uses in production before it is returned to the ocean.
My pieces are also cold water machine washed using fragrance and dye-free detergent. Most fabrics are hand hung and lined dried indoors to improve energy efficiency and reduce our carbon emissions.
